TFL
RUGBY Sunday Night League
It
was tight at the top of the
Sunday Night Premier Division
with just three points separating
the top four teams in the final
table.
Eventual
winners of the league were Hit
Or Misfits, with Spartans FC
securing the runners-up berth,
and previous twice TFL Sunday
champions Leicester Juniors
back in third.
The young Hit or Misfits side
have competed in every one of
the five Sunday leagues since
TFL was launched in March 2007,
and have steadily improved their
position over that time - culminating
in their first title triumph
now.
Bare Merkage denied them a double
success though, by winning the
Sunday Night Cup Competition
in a dramatic penalty shoot-out
after the final had finished
all square at 1-1.
For the first season ever, there
was also a Sunday Night TFL
Division One. JB Slimbo came
out on top, clinching the league
with a final day victory over
Realize.
It was an impressive turnaround
for John Baker's side, after
they were easily dispatched
8-2 in their opening match of
the season. Traders finished
in 2nd place just two points
adrift of Slimbo, with European
Hopefuls in third.
Jake Hartley (Hit or Misfits)
won the individual award for
Sunday Night top goalscorer,
with Fraser Edwards (JB Slimbo)
scooping the Sunday Night star
man gong.
