FAQs
about our leagues
Q.
If the season is already running
can I still join?
A. Certainly! We accept teams
to join our leagues on a reserve
basis if there are any unexpected
withdrawals. Also, we organise
friendly grading games for you
before you can join one of the
leagues!
Q.
What days are you running leagues?
A. We currently have leagues
on Sunday & Monday evenings
and anyone can join! We will
also be looking to run Sunday
morning leagues and Saturday
leagues.
Q.
How do the leagues work then?
A. There are typically 6-8 teams
in each division with upto 6
divisions in a league from the
Premier Division downwards.
Each team plays each other twice
in a typically 14 or 15-week
season followed by a end-of-season
presentation in the bar and
another season begins the week
after. Promotion and relegation
are active from each division
making each season competitive.
All matches are organised by
TFL and all games are handled
by an FA affiliated referee.
Q.
What do we get if we win the
league?
A. The winners of each TFL division
will take home quality individual
trophies for each player. Runners-up
also receive medals while winners
of cups can receive cash prizes.
There are also prizes for top
scorers.
Q.
I don't really know how good
my team is. How will I know
my team is going to get a competitive
game each week and not get thrashed
10-0 every week?
A. We hold grading games to
determine what division your
team is suitable for. We will
also ask you what standard of
football the members of your
team have played and we will
try to match you up with teams
of similar ability to make sure
you get a good game each week.
But with upto 6 six divisions
in each league and active promotion
and relegation for each division
after every 10-15 week season,
your team will soon find the
right level.
Q.
I am pretty aware that my team
will not be competiting for
the championship every season!
But can we still come to the
end of season presentation?
A. Yes! Everyone is welcome
at the end of season presentations!
Enjoy a drink in our fabulous
sports bar and reflect on the
last season and look forward
to a new one next week!
Q.
So how do I join one of the
leagues at TFL?
A. It's very simple. You can
call our booking hotline on
01788 866944, email us at bookings@tfl.uk.com
or fill in one of the online
application forms!
Q.
How many teams in each division?
A. Typically there are 6-10
teams in each division but this
can vary.
Q.
How long does each season last?
A. Each team will play each
other 2-3 times, depending on
the number of teams in the division,
meaning a typically 15-week
season but again this can vary
depending on the amount of teams.
Q.
What type of astroturf are we
going to be playing on?
A. Top of the range third-generation
astroturf which has fake grass
blades accompanied by a mix
of rubber crumbs and sand making
for fantastic gameplay, and
you can also wear rubber-moulded
boots and it reduces grazes
from falling on the turf.
Q.
How big are the pitches?
A. The pitches for the adult
leagues are approx 1/3 of a
full pitch (66x33m) so there's
plenty of room to play great
7-a-side football!
Q.
How long are the games?
A. Each game is 28 minutes long
(14 minutes each way).
Q.
How many players can be used
in one game?
A. 10 players may be used in
any one game, 7 on the pitch
at any one time and 3 rolling
substitutes.
Q.
Can we use more than 10 players
during the season?
A. Yes, you may register a maximum
of 20 players.
Q.
What times do the matches start?
A. Kick-offs during the night
leagues will typically be between
6pm-10pm and then they vary
for morning & afternoon
leagues.
Q.
Will there be promotion &
relegation?
A. Yes, 2 teams are promoted
and relegated. However, if a
team has won/lost a division
by a large margin TFL reserve
the right to regrade the team.
Q.
Can we choose the day &
kick-off times that we play?
A. Once you have chosen your
preferred day for playing, you
will be assigned to a league.
After this, the games will be
scheduled and every team must
play as per TFL's instructions.

A. Yes, league winners receive

each division. These will be

not just the winners!
